For customers

Booking a clean, from the first click to a finished job

When your cleaning business uses MopGoblin, you book on its own page. This guide shows what happens at each step: booking or asking for a price, the business’s answer, the day itself, and what happens to your data.

Book now, or ask for a price

The business’s page has up to two buttons, each shown only if the business takes that kind of booking.

Book now

A fixed price, booked at once

  1. What

A whole-home package, or just the rooms you need, at the cleaning level you want. Extras, and a note for the cleaner on any room, such as “Mind the glass vase”.

  2. Where and when

Your postcode, the address and how to get in, then a free time from the business’s calendar.

  3. You

Your email address and the code we send to it.

  4. Review

The price, worked out again from the business’s prices at that moment, then Confirm booking.

Booked. You and the business both get an email.

Request a quote

Anything else, priced by the business

  1. What

The same choices, plus anything else you need, in your own words.

  2. Photos

Optional and private: JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 10 MB each. The business sees them, and its cleaners only the ones it chooses to share.

  3. When

A time you’d like, which is held for you while the business answers. If no time suits you, ask the business to propose one.

  4. Review

What already has a price and what the business will price, shown apart. Then send it.

Requested: the business answers by email.

Booked for you

On the phone or in person

The business can also book you itself. If you give it your email, you get a short email saying who booked you and when, and you see the booking when you sign in. Without one, the business keeps your details for you.

Booked at once.

Example: The booking form on a phone: a category, then a free day and time.

What does “to be quoted” mean? Work the business prices itself. It isn’t in your total, and you agree to nothing for it until you accept a price.

Signing in

There’s no password to remember.

  1. Your email

    You

Type it on the business’s page while booking, or under Customer sign-in at the top of this site.

  2. The code

    You

We email you a 6-digit code and a link. Type the code, or open the link in the same browser. The code works for 10 minutes; ask for a new one if it runs out.

  3. Your bookings

    You

Every booking with every business that uses MopGoblin, on one page, with its messages and its history.

When you ask for a price

The business answers your request, and nothing is booked until you both agree.

  1. Confirmed as you sent it

    Business

If everything you asked for already had a price and your time is free, the business can simply confirm it. It’s booked.

  2. Or a proposal

    Business

Prices for what you asked, a time (always, if you asked the business to propose one), perhaps a change to the work, and a note.

  3. Your answer

    You

You see what changed, the total if you accept and the date to answer by. Accept it, ask for changes with a message, or decline.

  4. Booked

    Both

What you accepted is what’s booked. Each version is kept, so you can always see what was agreed and when it changed.

If nobody answers. A request expires after 14 days, or at the time you asked for, unless the business sets other limits; a proposal expires on the date it shows. Either way, the time held for you is freed.

Once it’s booked

Your booking shows what was agreed, the time and the address, the messages and its history.

  • Need more? Ask on the booking. The business prices it as a proposal, and nothing changes until you accept.
  • The business may lower a price or leave out a task without asking, and you get an email when it does. It never adds work, raises the price or moves the time without your yes.
  • Write to the business on the booking at any time.
  • Cancel from the booking any time before the cleaner starts. Once the job has started, ask the business.
  • You can have up to 5 upcoming bookings and 3 open requests with one business at a time.

Regular cleans

A booking you’re happy with can become a regular clean.

  1. The offer

    Business

Weekly, every 2 weeks or every 4 weeks: the first visit, the price per visit, and the cleaners who usually come.

  2. Accept the first visit

    You

That starts it. The visits of the next four weeks are booked for you, and more follow as time goes on.

  3. A date that can’t be booked

    Business

A closed day or a full calendar skips that visit, and you’re told. The business can offer it at another time.

  4. Ending it

    You

End it from your bookings whenever you like. Its upcoming visits are cancelled, apart from any already paid for in full, which stay booked.

On the day

Your cleaner works from a checklist written from exactly what you agreed.

  • They see the address and how to get in, your first name, your notes, the business’s notes and the photos it chose to share. Never your email, your phone number or the prices.
  • They start on the day of the job, tick off each item as it’s done, and mark the job done.
  • Once the job has started, the booking doesn’t change, and anything still waiting for an answer is closed.
  • Your booking then shows it as completed.

Your data

Your account page has your data and the controls for it.

  • Download everything stored about you at any time: your details at each business, every booking with its versions and messages, and a list of your photos.
  • Delete your account there too. Your photos go at once, your open bookings are cancelled and the businesses told, and your name, contact details, address and messages are removed from the rest.
  • Your photos are private and are deleted once the booking is over, after the business’s retention period: 90 days unless it sets another, never more than a year.
  • Three years after a booking closes, your details are removed from it.
  • Booked by phone without an email? You have no account page, so ask the business: it can download or delete your details for you.
  • The privacy notice, linked at the foot of every page, has the details.
